Dental Crowns

When a tooth has serious damage, one of the best methods of restoring original size, shape and function is through the use of crowns. A crown is a covering or a “cap” that is used to protect and strengthen a tooth’s structure when fillings and other types of restorations are not sufficient.

Crowns can be used for a variety of reasons including:

Cosmetic enhancement
Fractured fillings
Fractured or broken teeth
After Root Canal Treatment

What is involved in getting a crown?

During your first visit with Dr. Patel, he will remove any decay and shape the surface of the tooth in order for it to properly fit the crown. Once the preparation is completed, he will place a temporary crown with a cement which is also temporary and ensure your bite is comfortable.

During your second visit, we will remove your temporary crown, clean the tooth, and place your new crown. This will be done carefully to ensure the bite and the spacing are accurate. We will be sure to check your restoration at your regular checkups going forward.
